Below are some top AEW & WWE news stories of the day, involving Nick Khan.

• WWE President Nick Khan sent shockwaves through the wrestling world during an interview on The Bill Simmons Podcast.

Addressing the talent pool in All Elite Wrestling, Nick revealed that WWE is poised to welcome several AEW stars once their contracts expire:

“In terms of the other wrestling promotional company, they have a lot of talented wrestlers. And we’re happy about that. When contractually, they’re available to be talked to and have conversations with, assume a number of them will come over.”

This comes amid rumors of AEW’s Mariah May possibly heading to WWE, with her contract reportedly ending this year.

• WWE President Nick Khan has stirred the pot in the wrestling world with pointed comments about talent management, seemingly aimed at rival promotion All Elite Wrestling.

Speaking on The Bill Simmons Podcast, Khan addressed WWE’s approach to signing talent while taking a subtle dig at AEW:

“We won’t sign and bench people. We sign people who we want to use. If another entity signs and benches people like now, that’s not something we would do.”

When asked if AEW is guilty of doing that, Nick said:

“That’s what I’ve been told from time to time. Not us.”

• On The Bill Simmons Podcast, WWE President Nick Khan discussed Cody Rhodes leaving AEW in 2022 and returning to WWE at WrestleMania 38:

“He took a full bet on himself. He went, he started part of another league. And then you sort of saw him fade out over there. And it’s something that we talked about at WWE. It was like, well, this is interesting.

It used to be, hey, [AEW] is about the wrestlers. This is about empowering the wrestlers. This is, Cody’s one of the co-founders (of AEW). And then that narrative shifted.

That’s when we decided, when we knew contractually, we could make the call and say, hey, why don’t we get together and have a conversation? The deal was done in minutes and boom, he returned WrestleMania 2022 just 3 years ago. And a year later was in the main event of WrestleMania 2023.”
