AJ Styles has run roughshod over the SmackDown Live roster as the WWE Champion. He has been at the top of the food-chain since November 2017 after defeating Jinder Mahal to become the WWE Champion.

He has been champion for more than 290 days, defeating the likes of Shinsuke Nakamura, Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and John Cena during his long reign. Styles has battled most of the top stars on the blue brand during this title reign, except one big name, Randy Orton.

One fan tweeted Dave Meltzer asking him if there were any plans for AJ Styles to face ‘The Viper’ in the near future. Meltzer replied saying it was WWE’s plan at one time but Orton got injured. However, that feud could still happen as Orton is back and Styles is still the champion.

Maybe ‘The Viper’ can face ‘The Phenomenal One’ for the WWE Championship someday, especially since Orton is a heel now.

Orton & Styles have faced each other in a match once before, prior to WrestleMania 33 in a #1 contender’s bout, on SmackDown Live.
