• No More Big Plans For Top SmackDown Star In 2018?

As seen on this week’s episode of SmackDown Live, the originally planned WWE Championship match between AJ Styles & Daniel Bryan for WWE Crown Jewel took place on the show as Bryan refused to go to Saudi Arabia amidst the ongoing controversy.

Styles defeated Bryan clean in the middle of the ring via submission to retain his WWE Championship.

After the match, Samoa Joe attacked Styles and made it clear that he isn’t done with Styles and wants another shot at the WWE Championship.

You can watch it below:

Styles vs. Joe for the WWE Championship was then made official for WWE Crown Jewel PPV.

According to the Wrestling Observer, while Bryan isn’t being punished for refusing to go to Saudi Arabia, there might not be any more big plans for Bryan in 2018 after this clean loss to Styles.

It was also noted that Styles making Bryan tap out was the planned finish for their WWE Crown Jewel match as well.

We noted a few months back via the Dirty Sheets that WWE officials were planning on doing AJ Styles vs. Daniel Bryan for the WWE Championship at Royal Rumble 2019, with Bryan possibly winning the WWE Title. No word yet on if these plans are still on the table.

We’ll keep you updated regarding this situation.
