Bray Wyatt unexpectedly passed away at the age of 36. WWE paid tribute to him on last night’s SmackDown.
Wyatt returned to WWE last year at Extreme Rules 2022 and only had one televised match, which was at the Royal Rumble earlier this year, where he defeated LA Knight in a Mountain Dew Pitch Black Match.
He was written off television due to an illness in late February. He was scheduled to face Bobby Lashley at WrestleMania 39, which got canceled.
Earlier this month, Fightful Select reported that the illness Wyatt was dealing with was both career and life threatening.
In an update from Fightful (they were given permission by the family to release this information), Wyatt caught COVID-19 earlier this year, which exacerbated heart issues for him. There was a lot of positive progress towards a return and his recovery.
Unfortunately, he suffered a heart attack and passed away.
WWE has announced that all net proceeds from Bray Wyatt’s merchandise sales will go to his children and his fiancee JoJo Offerman.
Below is their statement:
“In the wake of Bray Wyatt’s death, WWE will donate all net proceeds to support JoJo Offerman and his children.”
On SmackDown, United States Champion Rey Mysterio defeated Grayson Waller.
During the match, Mysterio paid tribute to Bray Wyatt by doing the Clothesline – Running Senton spot that Bray used to do.

In December 2022, Bray posted a video to discuss the health of his uncle, Barry Windham.
The ending part of that video has now gone viral, where Wyatt said the following:
“I hope you take this from me. Be good to the ones you love. Always remind them about that and how much they mean to you because nothing is forever. Thank you for everything guys.”
