• Old School ECW Veteran Passes Away Due To COVID-19

We are saddened to report that Old School ECW Veteran Paul Varelans passed away on January 16th at the age of 51 due to COVID-19.

Before joining Paul Heyman’s Extreme Championship Wrestling, he used to be an MMA fighter who had 8 UFC fights between 1995 and 1996, 4 of which he won, while losing the other 4 fights.

Fresh out of the UFC, Varelans was brought into ECW in 1996 to put kayfabe shoot-fighter Taz over, but only agreed to do it after ECW Diva Missy Hyatt offered to give him a BJ when the match was over.

Paul lost to Taz via submission in a worked “Shoot Fight”, but when Missy told him she doesn’t blow jobbers, he got angry and tore up the entire ECW locker room.
