• Old School Wrestling Legend Passes Away

We just received information, that Old School Wrestling Legend Mr. Wrestling II (Real name: John Walker) passed away earlier today at the age of 85.

The cause of death is still unknown at this point in time, but based on his age, natural causes are to be expected.

After touring the NWA territories during the 50s, 60s, 70s & early 80s, Mr. Wrestling II was signed by Vince McMahon’s World Wrestling Federation in 1984, when Vince bought ‘Georgia Championship Wrestling’ to get their timeslot on TBS.

The idea was to present GCW talent like him and The Spoiler on the WWF’s own version of ‘World Championship Wrestling’, the TV show they took over from GCW and later sold to Jim Crockett Promotions, so the fans would see some familiar faces that kept them interested in the new product.

Wrestling II didn’t last long and left the WWF in 1986.

He has yet to be (posthumously) inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, but due to the young kids of today not knowing who he was, it will likely be an induction into the ‘Legacy Wing’.

We extend our condolences to his family, friends and fans.

† REST IN PEACE MR. WRESTLING II

(September 10, 1934 – June 10, 2020)
