On This Day In Pro Wrestling History – June 7, 2009

On this day in Pro Wrestling history in 2009, Extreme Rules 2009 took place and 5 new champions were crowned on this Pay-Per-View event, with the World Heavyweight Title changing hands twice.

Chris Jericho won the Intercontinental Title for a record 9th time, Tommy Dreamer won the ECW Title, Batista won the WWE Title, Jeff Hardy won the World Heavyweight Title & CM Punk cashed in on Jeff Hardy to become the new World Heavyweight Champion.

* Kofi Kingston defeated MVP, William Regal, & Matt Hardy in a Fatal 4-Way Match to retain the WWE United States Title
* Chris Jericho defeated Rey Mysterio Jr. in a No Holds Barred Match to win the WWE Intercontinental Title
* CM Punk defeated Umaga in a Samoan Strap Match
* Tommy Dreamer defeated Christian, & Jack Swagger in a Triple Threat Match to win the ECW Title. Had Dreamer lost, he would have been fired
* “Santina” Marella defeated Vickie & Chavo Guerrero Jr. in a Handicap Hogpen Match to retain the title of Miss WrestleMania
* Batista defeated Randy Orton in a Cage Match to win the WWE Title
* John Cena defeated The Big Show in a Submission Match
* Jeff Hardy defeated Edge in a Ladder Match to win the World Heavyweight Title
* CM Punk cashes in his Money In The Bank & defeated Jeff Hardy to win the World Heavyweight Title
