On this day in 1985, the World Wrestling Federation aired an episode of their weekly TV show ‘WWF Prime Time Wrestling’.

It featured pre-taped matches, interviews & storyline segments on the road to the first ever ‘WWF WrestleMania’ event.

• ON THIS DAY IN WWF HISTORY (January 1, 1984) – WWF Wrestling At The Chase *Hulk Hogan Returns & Gene Okerlund Debuts*

On this day in 1984, the World Wrestling Federation aired another episode of their weekly TV show ‘WWF Wrestling At The Chase’.

Originally the ‘Wrestling at the Chase’ TV show was associated with the ‘NWA St. Louis Wrestling Club’ territory, so they featured the NWA Superstars, but in the fall of 1983, the TV channel KPLR-TV, Channel 11 ended the relationship with the National Wrestling Alliance and started to negotiate a deal with the World Wrestling Federation.

This episode was pre-taped in St. Louis, Missouri and featured matches & interviews on the road to the first ever WrestleMania event.

This show also included the television WWF return of Hulk Hogan, as well as the WWF debut of Mean Gene Okerlund.

This episode was hosted by none other than Vince McMahon himself.
