On this day in Pro Wrestling history on January 31, 2021, World Wrestling Entertainment aired their annual ‘Royal Rumble’ event LIVE on PPV from the WWE ThunderDome at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.
The 34th annual Royal Rumble pay-per-view was the only edition to take place without an actual LIVE audience due to the then-ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
The surprise entrants in the Royal Rumble matches were Torrie Wilson, Jillian Hall, Victoria, Alicia Fox, Carlito Caribbean Cool, Kane, The Hurricane and Christian.
The results were:
WWE Championship: Drew McIntyre (c) defeated Goldberg
WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship: Sasha Banks (c) defeated Carmella
Bianca Belair won the 30-woman Royal Rumble match
Last Man Standing – WWE Universal Championship: Roman Reigns (c) defeated Kevin Owens
Edge won the 30-man Royal Rumble match
