On this day in Pro Wrestling history on January 27, 1999, Ted Turner’s World Championship Wrestling filmed ‘WCW Festival de Lucha’ from the Heart O’ Texas Fair Complex in Waco, Texas.
The taping of this event was supposed to be the pilot episode of an upcoming show (that was eventually canceled), similar to what the World Wrestling Federation was doing with their own weekly ‘WWF Super Astros’ TV show, that featured mexican Lucha Libre performers as well.

On this day in Pro Wrestling history on January 27, 1994, Ted Turner’s World Championship Wrestling aired ‘WCW Clash Of The Champions 26’ LIVE on TBS from the Riverside Centroplex in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
This show included the WCW debut of legendary wrestling announcer Bobby “The Brain” Heenan.

The entire event was originally taped on January 3, 1990 at the UTC Arena in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

On this day in Pro Wrestling history on January 27, 1986, the World Wrestling Federation held a televised house show in the world’s most famous arena, Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York.
This live event included matches on the road to the ‘WrestleMania 2’ PPV.
The show was televised on the MSG Network and featured Gorilla Monsoon & Jesse Ventura on commentary.
