• Old School WWF/WWE Veteran Celebrates His Birthday

Old School WWF developmental talent Doug Basham celebrates his birthday today.

After being used as an occasional jobber while it was still the World Wrestling Federation, Doug Basham became a main roster star later on during the WWE Ruthless Aggression Era, when he teamed up with his kayfabe brother Danny Basham as The Basham Brothers.

Together they won the WWE Tag Team Titles twice, before they were released in early 2007. Despite the modern day PG Era WWE labeling them as “boring”, they were anything but that. It’s just WWE’s typical historical revisionism, but most fans are already used to that bs.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DOUG BASHAM!

• On This Day In Pro Wrestling History (May 12, 2002) – Old School ECW Performer Passed Away

On this day in 2002 we lost ECW Performer Mass Transit (Real name: Erich Kulas) at the young age of 22 due to complications from gastric bypass surgery.

The November 23, 1996 ECW House Show included the infamous “Mass Transit Incident” which saw the pro wrestling debut of 17 year old “Mass Transit”, who had lied to promoter Paul Heyman about his age and his professional wrestling training (he had none).

Before the Tag Match, Mass Transit requested New Jack to do the blade-job for him, but was eventually cut too deeply by the experienced Hardcore Wrestler, so the match turned into a bloodbath rather quickly.

Only Fan-Cam video footage exists of the incident.

REST IN PEACE MASS TRANSIT!

October 17, 1979 – May 12, 2002
