Below are a couple of top WWE & AEW news stories of the day, involving John Cena and Kazuchika Okada.

• At WrestleMania 35 in 2019, John Cena returned as the Doctor of Thuganomics. He interrupted Elias’ performance, dissed him and laid him out with an Attitude Adjustment.

During an interview on ‘For The Love of Wrestling’, Elias revealed that this was originally scheduled to be a match, but plans changed because Cena was filming a movie at the time and couldn’t risk injuring himself during a match due to insurance issues:

“That was a special time man, you know that. First off, that was actually originally supposed to be a match, which I was really excited about.

But due to some things and movies and whatever going on, it turned into this Doctor of Thugonomics deal which is so cool.”

Elias also worked with Cena at WrestleMania 34, before Cena faced The Undertaker at that event.

• Tokyo Sports reported that Kazuchika Okada inked a three-year contract with AEW for approximately 2 billion yen, which translates to roughly $13.5 million. This averages out to around $4.5 million annually.

According to the Wrestling Observer, this figure isn’t accurate:

“Okada signed a three-year deal. Tokyo Sports reported Okada signed a three-year deal at 2 billion yen ($13.5 million) over the course of the period of the contract, or an average of $4.5 million annually, but that number is not accurate at all.

The real number is considerably lower, but it was still a very large number that he signed for.”

This is similar to the rumor of Jon Moxley’s AEW salary being reported as $6 million per year back in 2019, which was confirmed to be false.
