Paul Heyman Gives Hilarious New Nickname To Bronson Reed For Stealing Roman Reigns’ Shoes

Before tonight’s SmackDown, WWE hosted SummerSlam Kickoff. During this show, Paul Heyman said the following about Bronson Reed (who stole Roman Reigns’ shoes on RAW) and Bron Breakker:

“Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Paul Heyman. This is The Tribal Thief, Bronson Reed, and the leader of our group, Bron Breakker.”

Also during this show, AJ Styles said the following about his Intercontinental Championship match against Dominik Mysterio:

“If I’m being honest with you guys, this may be my last SummerSlam. So I plan on tearing the house down one last time at SummerSlam for you guys. It’s just, it’s very important. It’s very special to me. Again, the match with John Cena set the tone for AJ Styles’ career in the WWE. So SummerSlam is very special to me.”

SmackDown Results – John Cena Turns Babyface, 3 In-Ring Debuts

– WWE Champion John Cena kicked off tonight’s final SmackDown before SummerSlam 2025. Cena got his “greatest of all time” ring introduction and was about to say something, but King of the Ring Cody Rhodes came out. Cena said he had already told Cody he was exhausted and that SummerSlam would be too much for him. Despite that, Rhodes attacked him and forged his signature to lock him into an Undisputed WWE Championship Street Fight at the biggest event of the summer. Surprisingly, Cena thanked Rhodes for doing it. He explained that he’s always tried to operate with respect and honesty, but realized he threw all that away five months ago for “shocking TV.” Eventually the dust settled and people went back to their normal lives, whilst the people who were supposed to be on his team left him alone, thus taking an indirect shot at The Rock. He got the wake up call and is now back to being the real John Cena.

He noted that everyone who once stood by him has now walked away and said he wants to leave with the WWE Title – not to harm wrestling, but so that fans won’t forget him once he’s gone. Cena admitted he had been blind to how foolish he’d become, and said Rhodes did the right thing as a friend by forcing him to confront the truth in the ring. Now, he said, he gets to fight Rhodes at his absolute best in a brutal Street Fight. Cena told Rhodes, “If you want some, come get some.” John has turned babyface and ended his promo by saying:

“On Sunday, the only Platinum rapper showing up to whip your a$$ is me.”

Rhodes then handed Cena a Real American Beer, welcomed him back, and the two shared a toast before Rhodes made his exit. Cena then posed for the fans and kissed his wife at ringside.

– Logan Paul and Drew McIntyre interrupted Jelly Roll’s training session and attacked him.

– Giulia (c) (with Kiana James) def. Zelina Vega to retain the Women’s United States Championship

– United States Champion Solo Sikoa, along with his MFT faction, said tonight is about sending a message to Jacob Fatu. Solo said Jimmy Uso will get a big beating from Tala Tonga tonight.

– AAA stars Mr. Iguana and Psycho Clown answered the open challenge for the AAA Tag Team Championship. This is Iguana and Psycho’s SmackDown debut match.

– Los Garza (Angel & Berto) (c) (with Santos Escobar) def. Mr. Iguana & Psycho Clown to retain the AAA Tag Team Championship

– Damian Priest def. Aleister Black via DQ after Black hit Priest with a steel chair

After the match, Black continued to attack Priest.

– Talla Tonga def. Jimmy Uso in his SmackDown debut match with a Chokeslam

Jacob Fatu saved Jimmy from MFT after the match. Fatu laid out JC Mateo and Tonga Loa, while Solo Sikoa and Talla managed to escape.

– Tiffany Stratton and Jade Cargill had a face-off backstage. Tiffany said she only saved Jade last week so Jade can have no excuses when she loses at SummerSlam. Jade said they will have no distractions in their match and vowed to leave as the new WWE Women’s Champion.

– Charlotte Flair reminded everything that she’s not Alexa Bliss’ friend. Alexa said Charlotte doesn’t like using the F word.

– Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul came to the ring. Logan said Jelly Rolly is an outsider that thought SummerSlam was a hot dog eating contest and that Jelly will never belong in WWE. Drew said what happens to Jelly Roll in their match at SummerSlam is all Randy Orton’s fault for trying to get free tickets to Jelly Roll’s concerts and stringing him along. Randy & Jelly came out and got into a brawl with Drew & Logan. Orton RKOed two security guards, while Jelly chokeslammed the third.
