4. Mel Philips
Even more disgusting (if that’s even possible?) than the other 2 fired WWF Employees from the 1992 child s*x abuse scandal, was WWF ring announcer Mel Philips, who once allegedly got caught by a few Wrestlers in 1982, performing oral s*x to a 10 year old in a car. It was reported to a security guard right away, who said he’d handle it, but for whatever reason didn’t.
Mel Philips, who was always known for his foot fetish, wasn’t only a ring announcer but also the supervisor for the ring boys that set up the ring … nobody can tell for sure, how many of them he abused.
Tom Cole, who worked for the World Wrestling Federation as a ring attendant when he was underage through young adulthood, was se*ually abused by Philips when he was 13 years old.
Sometimes Mel Philips even video taped everything for his own se*ual purposes.
In a 2009 Interview, Cole recalls about Mel Philips:
“Mel had a black book with names of kids from all over the country that he would call up if he would be in a specific town and he would ask these kids if they would want to go to the shows. You’d meet kids from every state. I’d go from New York to Philly and he’d have young kids waiting for him, boys, at the shows and he’d get in five, six, seven kids. They’d go to Boston and it would be the same thing and maybe one or two of those kids would come with us or they’d drive with us. It was the same motif he had with me. He’d call parents.
They were always kids from broken homes. Once in a blue moon, you’d hear like a kid who came from a so-called stable environment. Mostly it was kids with a broken home with no father. Just a mother, drunk mother, alcoholic, drug addict, whatever. That’s pretty much the type of kid that Mel was geared toward.”
Because of the child s*x abuse scandal, Mel Philips got edited out on a lot of WWE video archive footages, most notable WrestleMania 3, where he was ringside during the Main Event.
