Pee-wee Herman Passes Away, Corey Graves Issues Statement On His Friend’s Death

We are saddened to report that comedian Pee-wee Herman (Real name: Paul Reubens) has passed away at the age of 70.

He passed away because of cancer.

His official Instagram page issued the following statement:

“Last night we said farewell to Paul Reubens, an iconic American actor, comedian, writer and producer whose beloved character Pee-wee Herman delighted generations of children and adults with his positivity, whimsy and belief in the importance of kindness.

Paul bravely and privately fought cancer for years with his trademark tenacity and wit.

A gifted and prolific talent, he will forever live in the comedy pantheon and in our hearts as a treasured friend and man of remarkable character and generosity of spirit.”

A statement from Paul Reubens was also shared in the Instagram post:

“Please accept my apology for not going public with what I’ve been facing the last 6 years. I have always felt a huge amount of love and respect from my friends, fans and supporters.

I have loved you all so much and enjoyed making art for you.”

WWE commentator Corey Graves and Paul were friends. Corey tweeted the following about Paul’s passing:

“Every year, my friend Paul would bombard me with texts, emails & occasionally videos wishing me a ‘Happy Birthday’.

His Christmas cards were legendary.

I grew up a fan of Pee Wee. I was lucky to become friends with Paul Reubens.

May the laughter he gave us all live on forever.”

Pee-wee Herman guest starred on the November 1st 2010 episode of WWE Monday Night RAW, where he had a fun segment with The Big Show.

He later appeared backstage at WrestleMania 27 in a segment with none other than WWF Legend Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.
