Below are some top WWE news stories of the day, involving Damon Kemp and Rey Mysterio.

• Damon Kemp (aka Bobby Steveson, real-life brother of Gable Steveson), once seen as a future star in NXT, has announced his departure from WWE. The NXT wrestler shared the news on Twitter, expressing gratitude for his time with the company:

“As of today I am no longer under contract with WWE. Forever grateful for the people I met and the experiences I’ve had. For business inquiries – [email protected].”

According to Fightful Select, Kemp’s departure is not part of a “round of cuts”. Instead, he was informed that his WWE contract would not be renewed, a decision that has become more common for the company in recent months.

In an update, the Wrestling Observer is reporting that people backstage in WWE were surprised by Damon’s departure:

“I’ve asked around with people that know him, and I’ve heard basically contradictory stories, but what I will say is that the people who are around are all surprised.”

• Rey Mysterio wrestled on this week’s post-Money In The Bank edition of RAW, teaming with fellow LWO member Zelina Vega against Dominik Mysterio and Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan in the main event.

Liv helped Dominik finally pin his father in a match during this episode.

At WrestleMania 39, Rey and Dominik Mysterio had their first match in their ongoing feud, with Rey emerging victorious. Since then, their rivalry has continued intermittently.

This match was Rey Mysterio’s 33rd TV match since being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2023, breaking the previous record held by Jerry Lawler for most WWE TV matches by an inducted Hall of Famer.
