Below are a couple of top WWE & AEW news stories of the day, involving Santos Escobar and CM Punk.
• Santos Escobar turned heel on Rey Mysterio recently. He has left the Latino World Order.
In his feud against The LWO, Joaquin Wilde and Cruz del Toro were originally scheduled to take Escobar’s side, but that’s no longer the case.
According to the Wrestling Observer, Los Lotharios (Angel Garza & Humberto Carrillo) will be called up from NXT to join forces with Escobar.
At Survivor Series 2023, Escobar defeated Dragon Lee (who replaced Carlito, because Santos injured Carlito on SmackDown, storyline wise).
According to the Wrestling Observer, Mysterio, Lee & Carlito are scheduled to take on Escobar and his men when Rey gets cleared to return:
“They did an injury angle the night before, which was originally Carlito, although it was always going to be Dragon Lee.
The idea is they’re going to be doing a three-man team, which is Rey when he gets back from his knee surgery, which would be only a couple of months.
I think two months because it was only arthroscopic surgery, so it’d be Rey, Carlito, and Dragon Lee on one side and then Escobar and others.”

• Tony Khan fired CM Punk after the backstage fight at AEW All In 2023.
Khan was promoting All In 2024 at Wembley Stadium during an interview with BBC’s Steve Hermon, when he was asked about his thoughts on Punk returning to WWE at Survivor Series 2023.
Below is what Tony said:
“Can’t talk about that, nor do I think it’s the time and the place. I appreciate you asking, I’m very excited about AEW All In at Wembley Stadium. Not to dodge your question, but it’s not something I can legally talk about.”
