• Possible Big Spoiler For Night Of Champions
Former NJPW star Hikuleo (half-brother of Tama Tonga) recently made his WWE debut before the June 13th episode of SmackDown, during the taping of WWE Main Event. He defeated Kit Wilson of Pretty Deadly. According to PWInsider, WWE brought Hikuleo to Saudi Arabia. He didn’t work last night’s SmackDown or the WWE Main Event tapings in Riyadh, which means he most likely will be used at Night of Champions tonight. This has begun speculation that he might join forces with Solo Sikoa and help Sikoa defeat Jacob Fatu for the United States Championship. Below is the final match-card for today’s PLE:
– Undisputed WWE Championship: John Cena (c) vs. CM Punk
– King Of The Ring Tournament Final: Randy Orton vs. Cody Rhodes
– Queen Of The Ring Tournament Final: Asuka vs. Jade Cargill
– United States Championship: Jacob Fatu (c) vs. Solo Sikoa
– Street Fight: Rhea Ripley vs. WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Raquel Rodriguez
– Sami Zayn vs. Karrion Kross
• WWE Edited CM Punk’s SmackDown Promo For U.S. Broadcast
If you thought last night’s SmackDown from Riyadh felt a little polished on the U.S. broadcast, you’re not wrong. Not only did WWE battle power outages during the show, but the main event segment featuring CM Punk and John Cena also got some post-production love.
Extra crowd noise was layered into the American feed to boost the atmosphere. And if you were waiting to hear Punk’s slip-up on the mic, don’t bother – that flub was snipped out completely.
According to Fightful Select, one member of the production crew admitted it was a hectic day juggling the technical failures and cleaning up the main event. On the bright side, they’re looking forward to SmackDown shifting to a two-hour format next week.
