11. Big Update On The Universal Title Match At SummerSlam 2017 & Bad News For Top Raw Star

While Roman Reigns announced on Raw that he’s going to face the Universal Champion at SummerSlam 2017, that actually might not happen. WWE is teasing that if Braun Strowman defeats Reigns in their Ambulance match at Great Balls of Fire 2017 PPV, then Strowman could be the one who gets to face the Universal Champion at SummerSlam 2017.

Below is what WWE posted on their website:

“A loss for Reigns could change everything. If Strowman produces another dominant showing, it’s possible that he could leapfrog his adversary in the Universal Title picture. If the massive competitor once again defeats The Big Dog, he could approach Raw General Manager Kurt Angle the following night on Raw with a legitimate claim to challenge whoever the titleholder is at SummerSlam. And if he were to be granted that right amd went on to capture the championship, Strowman’s reign of uncontrollable mayhem could reach even scarier heights. The level of brutality that would follow with Strowman on the top of the mountain could threaten the very order of Monday Night Raw and all of WWE.”

In what turns out to be a bad news for Reigns, he currently scheduled to lose his Great Balls of Fire 2017 match to Strowman (and this would result in Lesnar vs. Strowman for the Universal Title in the main event of SummerSlam 2017). This would be a third straight PPV lose for Reigns. Below is Reigns’ PPV record for 2017 so far:

Royal Rumble – lost to Kevin Owens in the Universal Title match and was the last man eliminated from the Royal Rumble match later that night.

Fastlane – defeated Braun Strowman.

WrestleMania – defeated The Undertaker in the main event.

Payback – lost to Braun Strowman.

Extreme Rules – lost the Fatal 5 way elimination match.
