At WWE SummerSlam 2023, Seth Rollins defeated Finn Balor to retain the World Heavyweight Championship.
Damian Priest tried to help his Judgment Day brother by placing his Money In The Bank briefcase in the ring to use, while distracting the referee at the same time.
This plan backfired, as Rollins stomped Balor’s head on top of the briefcase and pinned him for the win.
Also at SummerSlam, Cody Rhodes ended his story with Brock Lesnar by defeating him, and Lesnar put over Rhodes in a massive way by raising his arm after the match.
According to the Wrestling Observer, WWE wants to capitalize on Cody’s momentum and book him in another major feud, and this could be against Rollins for the World Heavyweight Title.
If you remember, Cody was about to challenge Seth for the World Title on the RAW after Money In The Bank 2023, before Lesnar came out and brawled with Rhodes.
Rollins faced Rhodes in a 3 premium live event matches last year and couldn’t defeat him. They also faced off in several Live Event & Dark Matches and Rollins lost all of them.
If WWE books this match, it will most likely main event the next premium live event, Payback on September 2nd at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, as Roman Reigns isn’t currently booked to work this PLE.
