As we noted a month back, former NXT Champion Sami Zayn is expected to be out of action for the remainder of 2015.
During a promo on NXT TV, Zayn noted he probably won’t be back in the ring by the end of 2015. He promised he would return better than ever and he’s coming for NXT Champion Kevin Owens (who is no longer the champion).
There’s been talk in WWE creative about bringing Sami Zayn back during the 2016 Royal Rumble match as a surprise entrant. It should be noted that an appearance during the Royal Rumble match doesn’t mean a main roster shift for Sami Zayn. He’s expected to be a part of NXT for 2016 as well. 2 NXT Superstars have entered the Royal Rumble so far (while still being in NXT) – Bo Dallas & Rusev.
Sami Zayn has already made his Raw apperance when WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart introduced him as the challenger for John Cena’s US Title Open Challenge. Zayn got a huge pop from his hometown crowd. Zayn was injured during the match but still continued and finished it as planned.
Zayn lost the match but earned everyone’s respect, including the 15 time WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena. Zayn has spent the longest time in NXT and him ending up on the main roster anytime soon looks hard.
