• Old School Wrestling Legend Would Have Celebrated His Birthday

Today would have been the 76th birthday of Old School WWF/NWA Legend “The Russian Bear” Ivan Koloff (Real name: Oreal Donald Perras).

In 1971, he defeated then WWWF World Heavyweight Champion Bruno Sammartino for the title in what is said to be an even more shocking moment than what we witnessed at WrestleMania XXX when Brock Lesnar broke The Undertaker’s streak.

Those who were in Madison Square Garden on January 18, 1971 said that you could hear a needle drop after Koloff had defeated Bruno via pinfall.

The Russian Bear has yet to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, a very deserving honor that they missed out on while he was still alive.

• RAW Star Training For An In-Ring Comeback

On Monday, Stephanie McMahon put Kurt Angle’s General Manager duties on ice and sent him on a mandatory “vacation”.

Angle posted the following on Instagram after RAW:

“I’m really sorry that I won’t be on Monday Night Raw for a little while. I enjoyed every minute of it with the WWEUniverse. I was told by Stephanie McMahon that I need a vacation. I don’t know if it’s temporary or permanent. I Hope I will be back sooner than later. Thank you WWEUniverse. Much Love. #itstrue”

The decision seemed to have come from nowhere but it may be tied to Angle making a return to the ring.

PWInsider is reporting that Angle has been training for an in-ring return which is why he was written off TV.

This could be the beginning of the storyline to bring him back to the wrestling ring. It is still unknown whether he was removed as General Manager temporarily or permanently.
