3. AJ Styles On How WWE Kept His Royal Rumble Debut A Secret, Hall of Famer Returns To In-Ring Action At Age 73, WWE Stars Not Allowed To Be Photographed With Alcohol

– During a recent appearance on In This Corner podcast, current United States Champion “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles recalled his official WWE debut from last year’s Royal Rumble event. Below is what Styles had to say regarding how WWE officials kept his debut a secret:

“We went in through Tampa rather than Orlando so that nobody knew i was coming, which I thought was pretty cool. The hours before the match, I’m driving up in a car that WWE got for me so they could keep it secret. I literally get out of the car and into a trailer where nobody can see me. I didn’t know it was going to be that big of a deal.”

– 73 Year Old WWE Hall of Famer Terry Funk returned to in-ring action at the Big Time Wrestling event in Raleigh, North Carolina last week. He teamed up with The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express to take on the team of Jerry “The King” Lawler, Brian Christopher & Doug Gilbert.

The match was described as an “entertaining carwreck” by the fans and Funk’s team ended up winning via DQ. After the match was over, Funk delivered Piledrivers to Lawler and three referees!

– Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer recently noted that security for a recent WWE Overseas Tour was very tight and that the wrestlers were told not to get photographed with alcohol.

Word going on is that WWE wrestlers usually visit the Crown Casino during the tour of Australia and they end up on the floor hammered. To avoid that and getting a possible negative press, WWE announced this new rule for wrestlers.
