As seen on this week’s episode of SmackDown Live, R-Truth defeated Shinsuke Nakamura in a controversial fashion (referee’s fault) to win the United States Championship.

According to the Wrestling Observer, WWE officials booked this controversial finish to throw a jab at the NFL referees due to the recent controversy in the Saints and Rams game.

What’s interesting here is that WWE has done the same thing with R-Truth before as well, where R-Truth was booked to mock Steve Harvey announcing the wrong Miss Universe in 2015.
