According to Fightful Select, AEW star Wardlow suffered a labrum injury in the spring of 2024. This injury sidelined him from in-ring action for an extended period, impacting his momentum in All Elite Wrestling. Adding to the challenge, Wardlow was involved in a car accident during his time away. Although the accident did not cause the original labrum injury, it worsened the condition, complicating his recovery process.

Wardlow’s Special TV Role Outside AEW in Early 2025

In early 2025, Wardlow was given what was described as a “very appropriate and special” television role outside of AEW itself.

He has since been medically cleared to return to wrestling. However, following discussions with AEW President Tony Khan, the decision was made not to bring him back to the ring only to remove him again shortly afterward because of his TV commitments.

Wardlow’s Contract and Future With AEW

Wardlow still has plenty of time left on his AEW contract, signaling the company’s intent to keep him as part of their roster for the foreseeable future. His current status reassures fans that Wardlow remains a valuable asset to AEW and that plans for his long-term involvement are in place.

Last In-Ring Appearance in AEW

Wardlow’s last match inside the AEW ring occurred on the March 13, 2024 episode of Dynamite. He challenged Samoa Joe for the AEW World Championship but came up short. Since that high-profile match, Wardlow has been absent.

Looking Ahead: Wardlow’s Path Forward

With medical clearance obtained and a clear path planned in coordination with AEW leadership, Wardlow’s return to active wrestling is on the horizon. AEW appears committed to balancing his in-ring comeback with other entertainment opportunities, aiming to maximize his impact and preserve his health over the long term.

His return will be closely watched by fans and insiders alike as he looks to rebuild his momentum and continue his rise in AEW.
