• Old School WCW Diva Celebrates Her Birthday

Old School WCW Diva Gorgeous George (Real name: Stephanie Bellars) celebrates her 44th birthday today.

In 1999, she appeared as the valet of her real life boyfriend at that time, “The Macho Man” Randy Savage, and therefore has been a member of his ‘Team Madness’ faction with Savage, Sid Vicious, Miss Madness (Molly Holly) & Madusa.

When they broke up in the fall of 1999, she left the promotion and continued to appear on the independent scene (following brief runs in ECW & TNA), where she was known as George Frankenstein, because Savage held the contractual trademark rights of the “Gorgeous George” name.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GORGEOUS GEORGE!

• Reason Behind WWE Changing Name Of Women’s Titles

After RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch mentioned on WWE Backstage that WWE should drop the term “women’s division” that is used to set the female wrestlers apart from the male wrestlers, WWE went on to change the name of the NXT Women’s Championship to just the NXT Championship.

According to Wrestlingnewsco, WWE is set to change the names of the RAW & SmackDown Women’s Titles as well:

“I have heard that this is not the only change coming for the women’s titles. Prior to Lynch’s comments on WWE Backstage, there was already talk of renaming the Women’s titles on Raw and SmackDown.

I was told that the changes to the main roster titles might not come right away because if the changes happen then they would want to introduce the new title names during WrestleMania.”

According to Tom Colohue, WWE is making these changes because Tessa Blanchard recently became the first female wrestler in Impact Wrestling to win the World Heavyweight Championship and WWE has no plans to make a female wrestler beat a male wrestler for the Men’s World Title, so they’re making sure the fans know that the Women’s Titles are also World Titles:

“Let’s start with the NXT Women’s Championship which will be henceforth known as the NXT Championship. There is, of course, already an NXT Championship, now there is going to be two and you will have context clues for which one’s the men’s and which one’s the women’s.

From what I’m hearing, with Impact Wrestling crowning it’s first female World Champion, we’re going to have a female World Champion in NXT as well, but she will just be a Champion and a World Champion and you’d have two World Champions.

Of course, when you look through for example Wikipedia or keeping the history of these different wrestlers, you do see lists of Women’s Championships, RAW Women’s Championship, SmackDown Women’s Championship, they want to make it clear that it’s a World Championship.”
