• Released WWE Star Might Go To CMLL

Santos Escobar was close to leaving WWE last year before being offered a lucrative new deal, ultimately choosing to remain with the company.

However, things did not last long after that. The former Cruiserweight Champion was sidelined earlier this year due to injury before being released as part of WWE’s latest round of roster cuts.

According to Fightful Select, sources with knowledge of the situation noted that CMLL had expected Escobar to join them before he re-signed with WWE last year, and there is now an expectation that those conversations could be revisited.

CMLL currently maintains a working relationship with All Elite Wrestling and is also set to be featured as part of this year’s Forbidden Door pay-per-view.

• Why EVIL Debuted On NXT Instead Of WWE Main Roster

On last night’s episode of NXT, Tony D’Angelo was addressing potential challengers for his NXT Championship. He then brought up the mysterious box he received last week, which had Japanese writing on it.

As he spoke about it, the lights suddenly went out and EVIL made his debut. He handed D’Angelo a cloth with the same writing that had been on the box, directly linking himself to last week’s tease.

According to Cory Hays of Bodyslam, EVIL’s arrival in NXT was done at his own request rather than an immediate placement on the main roster.

The former IWGP Heavyweight Champion, now 39, left New Japan Pro Wrestling in January before signing with WWE.

• Ricky Saints Bids Farewell To NXT (Video)

In the main event of last night’s NXT, Shiloh Hill defeated Ricky Saints. Saints tried to attack Hill with a steel chair during the match, but got stopped by the referee. Hill took advantage and got the win.

Saints’ NXT career is over as he’s headed to SmackDown. His official main roster debut will take place this Friday. After tonight’s show went off the air, Saints bid farewell to NXT:

• Kairi Sane Shoots Down Rumored Reason Behind WWE Release

Kairi Sane was among the names released by WWE as part of the company’s roster cuts on Friday, a list that included several notable stars from both the main roster and developmental brands. Her departure came as a surprise to many, especially given her ongoing storyline involvement with IYO SKY and Asuka in recent months.

A report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter claimed that Sane’s release was not related to budget cuts, but instead suggested that she wanted to return to Japan.

Sane pushed back on the rumor on X, making it clear she has not walked away from her job and remains fully committed, while also showing appreciation for her work, colleagues, and fans.

“What I can say is I know there’s been a lot of speculation, but I truly love this work, my teammates, and my fans.

I’ve never walked away, and I’ve given my all in everything I do.

I hope you’re all doing well ❤️”

Dave Meltzer provided the following clarification after Kairi’s tweet:

“I didn’t say she walked away. I said this was the reason WWE gave for the release.”

Fans have been vocal following her release, with “We Want Kairi” chants breaking out on RAW and the phrase trending on X over the weekend.
