On this day in Pro Wrestling history on May 1, 2005, World Wrestling Entertainment aired their annual ‘WWE Backlash’ event LIVE on PPV from the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, New Hampshire!

This was the 7th annual Backlash event held by the WWF/WWE from 1999 till 2009 and again since 2016.

The results from that night were:

– WWE Intercontinental Championship: Shelton Benjamin (c) defeated Chris Jericho

– The Hurricane and Rosey won a Tag Team Turmoil Match (World Tag Team Championship)

– Last Man Standing: Edge defeated Chris Benoit

– Kane defeated Viscera

– Hulk Hogan & Shawn Michaels defeated Daivari & Muhammad Hassan

– World Heavyweight Championship: Batista (c) defeated Triple H

WWE SmackDown Commentator, Corey Graves, hasn’t stepped in the ring as a wrestler for 6 years.

The Savior of Misbehaviour retired from in-ring competition back in 2014, after suffering two concussions.

Graves recently trained in the ring with his brother Sam Adonis. Adonis enjoyed wrestling with his brother, as they were in the same ring after 5 long years.

We noted earlier that Graves was very inspired by Edge’s in-ring return earlier this year, because of which he’s also determined to get medically cleared to wrestle.
