• Ric Flair Reveals Why WWE Fined Him $5,000 After Intercontinental Title Victory
At the WWE Unforgiven pay-per-view on September 18th 2005, WCW Legend Ric Flair defeated Carlito Caribbean Cool in the opening match to win the prestigious Intercontinental Championship.
During a recent episode of his weekly ‘To Be The Man’ podcast, The Nature Boy revealed that after that victory, he refused to take studio photos (most likely for WWE’s website) with the title belt, which resulted in WWE fining him $5,000.
Here’s what the 2-time WWE Hall of Famer had to say:
“They still don’t have a studio picture of me with the Intercontinental belt. It drives them crazy, right?
I said ‘I’m not taking a picture with the Intercontinental belt and so they fined me $5,000.
And I told them ‘When you guys are so starved for talent, that you’ve got to fine a 55-year-old guy for not taking a picture with the Intercontinental belt, you’ve got a developmental problem with talent’.”
Ric Flair’s reign as the WWE Intercontinental Champion lasted till he lost the title to Shelton Benjamin on the February 20th 2006 episode of Monday Night RAW.
