Below are a couple of important WWE news stories:
– While reviewing this past Friday’s episode of SmackDown, 2-time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair took a little shot at Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.
Below is what The Nature Boy posted:
“I Know It’s Supposed To Be The Roman Show, But The Ladies Stole The Show AGAIN!”
Ric is referring to the women’s tag team match, where his daughter Charlotte Flair teamed up with Bianca Belair to defeat WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Chelsea Green & Sonya Deville.
Speaking of Ric, his Last Match took place 1 year ago today.
– Zelina Vega had the biggest match of her career earlier this summer at the Backlash premium live event in Puerto Rico, where she challenged Rhea Ripley for the SmackDown Women’s Championship.
Unfortunately for Vega, she couldn’t capture the title, but she still got a very memorable moment before the match started.
Vega had a pretty competitive match with Ripley at the event, but that reportedly wasn’t the original plan.
According to Fightful Select, WWE initially wanted Ripley to squash Vega at Backlash. However, plans changed after Vega impressed WWE officials.
The Puerto Rican crowd gave Vega an extremely overwhelming reaction, which brought out an emotional response from her side. This led to WWE changing the plan and booking a more competitive match between Vega and Ripley.
The now Women’s World Champion Ripley was reportedly happy to accommodate the change.
A source close to the situation thinks that the change was positive for everyone involved, including WWE, Zelina Vega and Rhea Ripley.
