Below are a couple of top AEW & WWE news stories of the day, featuring Ric Flair and Gunther.
• Ric Flair Will Pay Tribute To Late Legend During Tonight’s AEW Collision Taping
AEW will honor the late NFL Legend and former WCW United States Heavyweight Champion Steve “Mongo” McMichael during the Collision taping following tonight’s Dynamite: Beach Break episode in Chicago. 2-Time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair confirmed he will appear to pay tribute to his longtime friend.
Flair shared a heartfelt message on social media ahead of the tribute, reflecting on his bond with McMichael. “My favorite memory of Steve McMichael. Well, I really just don’t have one. I have a thousand great memories, and I could spend all day long talking about them,” Flair said.
He continued, “I’ll be in Chicago. Hopefully I’ll have the chance to speak at a service and I’ll give you some really favorite ones. But I just can tell you this — he was a great guy, and literally I coined this phrase. But to be the man, you gotta beat the man. And no one to this day will ever be the man that Steve McMichael was and always will be, even in heaven. God bless you, Steve.”

McMichael, a former NFL player and a member of the 4 Horsemen in WCW, passed away last month at the age of 67, after battling ALS.
• Real Reason Behind Gunther Getting A World Title Rematch
On this week’s RAW, Jey Uso addressed Logan Paul ahead of their World Heavyweight Championship match on Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 24. Jey said Logan is going to get it and he will remain champion.
Gunther interrupted and said that Jey achieved the impossible at WrestleMania 41, but unlike him, Jey is not a natural champion and it won’t last.
The Ring General revealed that he spoke to Adam Pearce and he will face the winner of Jey vs. Logan for the World Heavyweight Title on the June 9th episode of RAW (post-Money In The Bank episode) in Phoenix, Arizona.
WrestleVotes reported the following reason behind this match:
“Gunther is owed a rematch, and there will be an angle coming out of that involving Gunther — just a way to get him off the Money In The Bank card and on to a big Monday Night RAW to set something else up.”
Word going on is that Goldberg will finally make his return and plant seeds for his rumored retirement match against Gunther.
WWE’s next Saudi Arabia PLE will be Night Of Champions on June 28, so it’s possible that WWE makes this match official for this premium live event in early June.
