Below are a couple of top WWE news stories of the day, involving Ricochet and Triple H.
• Ricochet left WWE and is now in AEW. During his nearly six-year tenure in the company, Ricochet won titles like the Intercontinental Championship and the United States Championship, but was never positioned as a top star.
On the “Behind The Turnbuckle” podcast, former WWE personality Jonathan Coachman suggested that Triple H’s preferences played a role in Ricochet not reaching the top level in WWE.
Here’s what The Coach said:
“I believe part of the reason he didn’t make it in the WWE to the levels that a lot of people thought he would is because when you have Triple H who’s the head guy… That was not Ricochet’s style. It’s a high spot after a high spot after a high spot. And I think, for at least Triple H, and he’s the end-all-be-all, he just doesn’t like that style on a major superstar.”

• WWE’s recent focus on improving their Premium Live Events has brought significant changes that have been well-received by fans. One of the most noticeable adjustments is the trend toward shorter event cards, leading to quicker shows.
For instance, Bash in Berlin featured 5 matches, SummerSlam had 7, and WrestleMania 40 had just 7 matches per night.
According to Fightful Select, Triple H plans to continue this trend of shorter PLE cards. The format has been successful, allowing WWE to stack RAW and SmackDown more effectively, especially when SmackDown is held in the same city the night before the PLE.
WWE has three more main roster PLEs scheduled for 2024: Bad Blood on October 5 in Atlanta, Crown Jewel on November 2 in Riyadh, and Survivor Series: WarGames on November 30 in Vancouver.
