Below are a couple of top WWE news stories of the day, featuring Roman Reigns and Jey Uso.

• Roman Reigns has completely moved on from his past persona as The Big Dog. While the character initially made him a top star, it failed to connect with fans. His transformation into The Tribal Chief in 2020 changed everything.

Speaking to IGN, Reigns made it clear that The Big Dog is gone for good, saying:

“There is no Big Dog. He’s dead now. I don’t even see the other guy. He doesn’t even exist. It didn’t happen.”

As The Big Dog, Roman Reigns won multiple World Titles, main evented 4 consecutive WrestleManias (31 to 34) and defeated names like The Undertaker, Brock Lesnar, John Cena, and Triple H.

• Jey Uso won the Royal Rumble match and will face Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 41, but faces skepticism from fans. Speaking to CBS Sports, he acknowledged the doubts and pressure, vowing to prove he deserves this opportunity.

“This is do or die for me. I feel like I am doubted a lot. A lot of people are doubting me right now, Uce. I’m not supposed to be in this position. I know that. They know that. But I’m going to shut them all up.”

He sees this as a defining career moment, especially after criticism of his WrestleMania 40 match against Jimmy Uso. Despite having great tag team matches, he feels he hasn’t yet delivered an unforgettable singles performance.

“I always thought we put on great matches. If you look at it, we had great matches with The Wyatt Family, The Shield, The New Day. Now, I feel like I’ve had a couple of good matches but not ones that stick in people’s minds. This is redemption time on the big stage. The pressure is on.”
