Roman Reigns does not care when people question his place at the top of the industry.
During his recent appearance on the Club Shay Shay podcast with Shannon Sharpe, the World Heavyweight Champion addressed comments made by podcaster Conrad Thompson, who previously labeled him “overrated.” Sharpe brought up the remark, noting that Booker T had to step in and defend Reigns at the time.
When asked if criticisms like that bother him, Reigns made it clear that he understands how the digital media space works. He pointed out that people often use his name simply to generate clicks and traffic.
“No, because the truth is, like, are there a lot of people watching that guy’s show?” Reigns said. “So, you’re going to say stuff. You already know I’m a metric mover. They know I give views and all that stuff, so it’s fine. I mean, it is what it is.”
Reigns went on to explain that fans and listeners can easily see the motivation behind such comments just by looking at Thompson’s background and ties in the wrestling world.
“And if you look at the guy’s background, you already know where his support system is, you know what I mean?” Reigns added. “All you got to do is scroll a little bit, and you see who he’s a fan of and stuff like that and who he’s connected to. But no, if they want to use my name to get views, that’s the industry right now.”
Reigns held the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship for 1,316 days, leading the company through one of its most profitable eras in history. With numbers and business metrics on his side, outside noise does not shake The OTC’s confidence.
Roman Reigns defeated LA Knight this past weekend to retain the World Heavyweight Title at Money In The Bank. His next match will be against Undisputed WWE Champion Sami Zayn for the 2026 Men’s Crown Jewel Championship.
