• Roman Reigns’ SummerSlam Match Isn’t What You Think

In the main event of last night’s RAW, Bron Breakker went through Penta, LA Knight and Jey Uso in the Gauntlet Match, but lost to CM Punk in the end. Punk will now face Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam 2025. After the match, Breakker and “Big” Bronson Reed attacked Punk and Jey, which led to Roman Reigns making his long-awaited return to save Punk and Jey from Seth Rollins’ men. There was speculation that with Rollins being out of action with an injury, Reigns would end up facing Breakker in a singles match at SummerSlam. However, that’s not the case.

Sean Ross Sapp noted on his RAW Recap show that current plan is for Reigns to team up with Jey to take on Bron and Bronson in a tag team match at SummerSlam. By doing this, WWE can delay the inevitable singles meeting between Reigns and Breakker, possibly for WrestleMania 42.

WWE has officially confirmed the following matches for SummerSlam 2025 so far:

Undisputed WWE Championship: John Cena (c) vs. King of the Ring Cody Rhodes

World Heavyweight Championship: Gunther (c) vs. CM Punk

Women’s World Championship: Naomi (c) vs. Rhea Ripley vs. IYO SKY

WWE Women’s Championship: Tiffany Stratton (c) vs. Queen of the Ring Jade Cargill

– Randy Orton & Jelly Roll vs. Drew McIntyre & Logan Paul

Women’s Intercontinental Championship: Becky Lynch (c) vs. Lyra Valkyria

AEW will be without one of its top stars for a short stretch, as current Trios Champion Samoa Joe is slated to step away from the ring temporarily. At All In: Texas, The Opps successfully defended their Trios Titles against The Death Riders. Following the bout, Joe took a vicious steel chair beatdown that ended with him being stretchered out, a moment that, it turns out, wasn’t just for show.

Fightful Select reports that AEW planned the segment to write Joe off television for a little while because Joe has a packed schedule ahead promoting the upcoming season of Twisted Metal.

While there’s no confirmed length for his absence, it’s expected to last at least a couple of weeks, allowing him to focus on the media tour for the action-comedy series. The second season of Twisted Metal is set to drop on Peacock on July 31, and Joe, who stars in the show, will be hitting the circuit to build anticipation.
