5. WWE Breaking Attendance Record At Royal Rumble 2017?
WWE announced that Royal Rumble 2017, which will be the 30th edition of the Royal Rumble PPV, will take place in the Alamodome in San Antonio. Below is what WWE posted:
WWE® ROYAL RUMBLE® TO RETURN TO ALAMODOME FOR FIRST TIME IN 20 YEARS
STAMFORD, Conn., September 30, 2016 – WWE® announced today that the Alamodome in San Antonio will host the 2017 WWE Royal Rumble on Sunday, January 29, 2017. This marks the return of Royal Rumble to the Alamodome for the first time since 1997.
Royal Rumble is one of the WWE’s biggest events of the year and officially kicks off the road to WrestleMania. The event will be highlighted by a 30-man over-the-top-rope Royal Rumble match featuring WWE Superstars from both Raw® and SmackDown®, where the winner will receive a title opportunity at WrestleMania® 33 in Orlando on April 2, 2017.
Tickets for the 2017 WWE Royal Rumble will go on sale Friday, October 14 at 10 AM Central through all Ticketmaster outlets, www.ticketmaster.com, or by calling 1-800-745-3000. All tickets are subject to service charges and facility fees.
The Alamodome previously hosted the 1997 Royal Rumble, where more than 60,000 fans witnessed WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cold Steve Austin® win the Royal Rumble match and WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels® win the WWE Championship.
The attedance record for Alamodome is 73,086 and it looks like WWE will try to break that record.
