• RUMOR: WWE Has Been Sold To Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund

As reported earlier today, Stephanie McMahon resigned as chairwoman & co-CEO of WWE.

Vince McMahon was elected as The Chairman by the Board and Nick Khan will be the CEO.

In her statement about resigning from her position, Stephanie said Vince is leading an exciting process regarding strategic alternatives.

It has been known for quite a few days now that Vince is looking to sell WWE and there’s a rumor going on that WWE has been sold to the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund.

Cassidy Haynes of Bodyslam reports:

“For what it’s worth, I’m told the Saudi deal is done and they’re taking the company private.”

Steven Muehlhausen of DAZN reports:

“Sources: WWE has been sold to Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund. The company will go back to being private. Unknown if Vince McMahon will return to head of creative but it is expected by some people.”

On the other hand, Sean Ross Sapp reports:

“One of hot rumors is that Saudi buyers are interested in WWE.

I’ve gained no actual information thus far to indicate this is actually happening, outside of a few vague hinting messages from people outside WWE.

WWE contacts claimed to not know what the hints were about.

Bovada, which sent Fightful betting odds just hours ago on who would buy WWE, is no longer taking bets on it.

Again — NOBODY IN WWE HAS CONFIRMED THIS — some have even said they don’t believe it!”

Jon Alba reports:

“For what it’s worth, no one I’ve spoken to has heard a WWE/Saudi deal is done at this time, or agreed upon.

That’s not to say it’s not. Just no one I’ve spoken to in the last hour can confirm it is, though some have echoed they’ve heard the rumors.

Just want to make extremely clear: That doesn’t mean it’s not happening.

But at this moment in time, as things stand, I have not personally been able to confirm it.”

We’ll keep you updated regarding this situation.
