Below are a couple of top news stories of the day, featuring Sabu and Baron Corbin.
• ECW Legend Sabu is set to return to the ring for what is being billed as his retirement match at Joey Janela’s Spring Break 9 on April 18.
The announcement came during The People vs. GCW event last night, where Joey Janela defeated former ECW World Champion Masato Tanaka. After his victory, the lights dimmed, and a video package featuring Sabu played. When the lights came back on, Sabu was in the ring, surprising the crowd.
Janela interpreted Sabu’s presence as a challenge and declared that they would face off at Spring Break 9, specifying that it would mark the legendary wrestler’s final match.

• Tom Pestock (Baron Corbin in WWE) made his debut in GCW at The People vs. GCW event last night at the Hammerstein Ballroom, competing in a Bloodsport Match against former UFC Heavyweight Champion Josh Barnett.
The match showcased a hard-hitting clash between the two competitors. Pestock focused on Barnett’s leg early on, while both men traded holds in an evenly matched contest. Barnett landed a back suplex and trapped Pestock in an ankle lock, but Pestock responded with a fiery comeback, delivering multiple suplexes and powerful strikes.
Despite Pestock’s resilience, Barnett regained control with a series of heavy blows and another ankle lock, forcing Pestock to tap out.
This bout marked Pestock’s first match outside WWE following his entry into free agency on January 1, after WWE chose not to renew his contract.
