• Sad News For Santos Escobar

Santos Escobar is scheduled for surgery this Thursday after tearing his triceps muscle. The WWE and AAA wrestler apparently aggravated the injury while competing at the AAA Rey de Reyes (Week 1) event. According to Fightful Select, the original damage happened during a match with El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. while on tour for NXT during the Royal Rumble weekend.

At the time, everyone thought it was just a minor issue, but it turns out to be a full tear. This is a major setback for Escobar, who had only recently returned to action after being off TV for several months.

There’s no word yet on how long he will be out, but tricep surgeries usually require a significant amount of recovery time.

This injury is the reason why Escobar looked “off” during the match at Rey de Reyes, where El Grande Americano #2 (Ludwig Kaiser) defeated Escobar, La Parka, and Original El Grande Americano (Chad Gable) to become the #1 contender for the AAA Mega Championship.

– Ethan Page and Ricky Saints attacked NXT Champion Joe Hendry. Tony D’Angelo came out and laid out all three of them.

– El Grande Americano #2 and Los Americanos def. The Vanity Project

– Sean Legacy got pulled from the NXT Tag Team #1 Contender’s Tournament due to not being medically cleared. It will now be Eli Knight and WWE Men’s Speed Champion Elio LeFleur teaming up.

– WWE held Booker T Appreciation Night. A video package aired looking back at Booker’s legendary career, which featured comments from legends, main roster wrestlers and NXT wrestlers. Booker T’s family and Reality of Wrestling talent were in attendance. Booker T received a plaque. Booker T got emotional and said it’s been a great ride of 35 years. Keanu Carver interrupted and beat up Booker’s ROW students, which led to Jasper Troy making the save. This was Jasper’s babyface turn. NXT wrestlers then came out on the stage to show respect to Booker T.

– #1 Contender’s Tournament For The NXT Tag Team Championship: Birthright (Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo and Uriah Connors) def. Hank and Tank

– DarkState attacked OTM.

– It was announced that Sexxy Red will appear live at NXT Stand & Deliver on April 4th.

– Steel Cage Match For The NXT Women’s North American Championship: Tatum Paxley (c) def. Izzi Dame to retain the title

After the match, Blake Monroe came out of the entrance ramp’s secret entrance spot and dragged Tatum inside. Blake posed with the North American Title to end the show.
