Below are a couple of top stories from WWE Crown Jewel 2023, involving Sami Zayn and Rey Mysterio:
• Sami Zayn has been with WWE for 10 years now. He signed with the company in January 2013 and started in NXT.
Fast forward to 2023, he’s having the best run of his career right now.
He main evented Night 1 of WrestleMania 39, where him and Kevin Owens ended The Usos’ longest Tag Team Title reign in company history.
Sami also main evented the Elimination Chamber 2023 PLE against Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in his hometown of Montreal.
This is also the year Sami finally started working Saudi Arabia shows.
On the Crown Jewel 2023 Kickoff Show (pre-show) this past Saturday, he defeated JD McDonagh. Zayn achieved an incredible milestone with this match, as this was his 900th match in WWE.
• At the WWE Crown Jewel 2023 premium live event, Logan Paul punched Rey Mysterio using brass knuckles and pinned him to win the United States Championship.
Despite losing the Title, Mysterio managed to make history.
This United States Title reign of Rey Mysterio was the only US Title reign in history to both start and end outside of USA.
Mysterio won the Title from Austin Theory on an episode of SmackDown in Calgary, Alberta, Canada in August, and lost it in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in November.
