Mercedes Moné (fka Sasha Banks) left WWE in May 2022 and debuted for NJPW at Wrestle Kingdom at the start of this year.

Her contract with NJPW expired on April 27th after which she signed a longer deal with the company, according to a report from the Wrestling Observer.

Moné suffered an ankle injury when she slipped off the top rope in the first ever NJPW STRONG Women’s Championship match against Willow Nightingale at NJPW Resurgence.

Moné was originally supposed to win the match, but plans changed and Nightingale got the win as Moné suffered the injury. She underwent surgery on her ankle, but it’s unknown when she will return to the ring.

The multi-time Women’s Champion was rumored to compete at the AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door pay-per-view earlier this year, but she couldn’t due to her injury.

In an update from Fightful Select, it was reported that there have been recent conversations between Mercedes Moné and AEW.

She’s open to appearing for the promotion, with one source even showing heavy optimism that the two sides will work together. Another source spoke as if it was in the works.

Moné was in attendance for the AEW All In pay-per-view today at the Wembley Stadium in UK and was shown on camera multiple times.
