Carlito has been loosely connected with Judgment Day in recent months. Changes continued in the faction when Finn Balor cost Damian Priest the World Heavyweight Championship in a match against Gunther at SummerSlam, and Dominik Mysterio turned against Rhea Ripley by siding with Liv Morgan, helping her retain the Women’s World Title.
At Bad Blood, Raquel Rodriguez also joined forces with Morgan, further linking herself to the group.
WrestleVotes recently reported that WWE has been discussing the possibility of Carlito leaving the faction:
“We are hearing discussions to potentially remove Carlito from The Judgment Day and get him back into a singles competitor, possibly a singles push.
I think now, with the addition of Raquel Rodriguez to The Judgment Day, it started to get a little bit bloated. And I think if you have a street trash type gimmick for The Judgment Day where they’re kind of thugs and, you know, getting… rule breakers in that sort of environment, if you don’t toe the line of the entire group, or if you step out of line a little bit, or if you make a mistake, you’re going to pay for those mistakes. So I think you’re going to see Carlito here in the next couple of weeks, sort of give The Judgment Day a reason to want to excommunicate him from the group. And I think he deserves a singles run.
There’s no timetable. We haven’t heard much. I’d expect by the end of the year, maybe a singles run by Carlito is in the fold, but we do know that those plans have been discussed to separate him from The Judgment Day.”
The seeds for Carlito leaving The Judgment Day were planted on tonight’s RAW.
In a backstage segment, Raquel questioned Carlito what he does around here. He claimed he added the cool factor, but she remained unimpressed. Realizing that response wasn’t sufficient, he then called himself a fixer and said he’d go take care of the situation immediately.
Carlito went to Adam Pearce and said that Dominik should challenge Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship. Pearce laughed and said Dirty Dom hasn’t done anything to earn a title match. Pearce questioned why Carlito is asking on Dominik’s behalf. Carlito said he’s a fixer, but Pearce doesn’t know what that means. Carlito requested Pearce to make the match. Pearce said if Dom can defeat a former World Heavyweight Champion next week, then he’ll put Dominik in a #1 Contender’s match.
On RAW Talk, Dominik asked Carlito when his World Title match against Gunther is. Carlito then told him about Pearce’s plan and none of them were happy.
