– Seth Rollins came to the ring and welcomed fans to “Monday Night Rollins”. He addressed his upcoming match with CM Punk, accusing Punk of turning his back on fans and taking his ball and going home by walking out on WWE. Before Rollins can say more, Punk’s music hit, and he made his way to the ring.
Punk countered Rollins’ claims, explaining that he left WWE because he was “sick and tired” and argued that Rollins is upset because he felt abandoned. Punk questioned if Stone Cold Steve Austin also took his ball and went home, and if Rollins’ wife Becky Lynch also took her ball and went home earlier this year. Punk shifted the focus to Rollins’ numerous injuries over the past decade and admitted he returned to WWE for the money.
Rollins fired back by saying that Becky is on a hiatus to take care of their child, something Punk without know anything about, since Punk doesn’t have children. Seth reminded Punk of the harsh comments he made after leaving WWE and pointing out how his time in the competition (AEW) ended. Rollins criticized Punk for switching sides whenever it suited him, accusing him of returning only because WWE is in a boom period.
Punk warned Rollins to prepare for a beating next week, but Rollins escalated the tension, calling Punk a “cancer” to the locker room and the wrestling industry. Rollins declared that the only way to deal with cancer is to remove it and vowed to burn Punk down. The two men locked eyes in an intense stare-down as the show ends.
