With the wrestling world buzzing over the future of the McMahon family in the business, Shane shut down the idea—at least for now. “You never know what’s gonna happen out there,” Shane said when asked about the rumors. “Of course, anything can happen in WWE, but those rumors are false. Those rumors are false.” Despite years of distance from day-to-day WWE operations and recent speculation about the family’s direction, Shane made it clear that he and Vince are not secretly working on a new promotion.

The conversation also shifted to the other major player in pro wrestling today—All Elite Wrestling. Shane confirmed that he had, in fact, met with AEW but emphasized that the company isn’t a natural fit for him.
“Had a meeting with AEW and wish them, you know, continued success or whatever,” Shane McMahon told TMZ. “But it’s not WWE. It’s not the company I helped build. But you never know what’s gonna happen in this business.”
While his comments leave the door slightly open, Shane seemed firm that his identity is tied to WWE, where he worked for decades as both an on-screen talent and executive. His brief acknowledgment of the AEW meeting has already sparked renewed discussion online about how seriously he considered making a jump after meeting with Tony Khan.
Shane McMahon on Vince possibly buying back into WWE
When asked about the rumors of Vince buying back into WWE, Shane said:
“He owns a big part of TKO still, so you never know what’s gonna happen there either. So I’m not trying to be vague, I’m just saying anything can happen.”
As for Vince’s health and lifestyle post-WWE leadership, Shane offered a positive update: “He’s doing really well and is enjoying life.”
