For years, people have wondered why Shane McMahon would perform such dangerous stunts, especially since he’s a millionaire and the boss’ son, with no need to take such risks.
During the Mr. McMahon Netflix docuseries, Shane O’Mac revealed that he did it all to earn his father’s approval,
which he finally received the night of WrestleMania 32, when he leaped from the top of Hell in a Cell in his match against The Undertaker.
Here’s what they said during the docuseries:
Vince McMahon: Shane got very emotional that night (after the match) and told me, “That’s all I’ve ever wanted: your respect”. That was a very personal moment.
Shane McMahon: He gave me a hug and a pat on the back. Yes, I finally got one.
Interviewer: Are they hard to get?
Shane McMahon: Very. I had to earn that one. And I think I did.
