Below are a couple of top news stories of the day, featuring Shane McMahon, Tony Khan, and the WWE Hall of Fame.

• Shane McMahon met with Tony Khan on July 29, 2024, near Arlington Airport to discuss potential opportunities in AEW. Rumors swirled about McMahon joining the company, but talks quickly faded.

According to Jonathan Coachman on Behind the Turnbuckle, Shane O’Mac requested equity in All Elite Wrestling and full control of the show, leading Khan to ghost him rather than pursue further discussions.

Coachman noted that this was one of the rare times he agreed with Khan’s decision:

“I remember that picture that surfaced with Shane McMahon meeting Tony Khan, and there was all this speculation that he wanted to come into AEW. Then, all of a sudden, that talk just disappeared.

Well, I have it on good authority that Shane McMahon asked for the world—he wanted equity in the company, and he wanted to come in and run the entire show.

And honestly, it was probably the first time I said to myself, ‘I actually agree with Tony Khan ghosting him.’ Because Tony ghosted Shane—it wasn’t the other way around.”

• The WWE Hall of Fame ceremony takes place during WrestleMania weekend. In recent years, the ceremony has taken place right after SmackDown.

However, WWE is considering a change this year and the ceremony might not take place during WrestleMania 41 weekend.

Here’s what WrestleVotes reported:

“After speaking with sources, we’ve heard varying speculation about when and where the 2025 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony will take place. Some within the company strongly dislike the recent format of the ceremony following SmackDown. We’re told WWE is considering a change, with no mention of the time or place in any WM promotional material so far.”

Triple H and Michelle McCool have been announced for this year’s Hall of Fame class so far.
