Below are some top WWE news stories of the day, involving Sheamus and The Undertaker.
• At WWE Clash At The Castle 2022, Gunther defeated Sheamus to retain the Intercontinental Championship.
This was a hard-hitting match and one of the best matches of Sheamus’ career. Despite the loss, Sheamus received a standing ovation from the crowd after the match.
During an interview on The Pat McAfee Show, Sheamus revealed that this match wasn’t supposed to happen.
Here’s what the former WWE Champion said:
“The Gunther match to me is very special. That match wasn’t even supposed to happen. WWE was going to Wales, and at the time, I wasn’t doing anything. I talked to [Triple H] about it, we spitballed back and forth, and then he went and made the match. I pitched that match in Wales. Fair play to him, he made it happen.”
2-Time WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart was in attendance to witness this match. Bret said in an interview later that he was embarrassed to be ringside at this PLE to watch so many “leg slaps” from wrestlers.
He didn’t mention the Gunther vs. Sheamus match by name, but said that he wasn’t a fan of heavy chops either, which Gunther and Sheamus used on each other a lot.

• During an interview on ‘Nuclear Heat’, former WWF / WCW writer Vince Russo revealed that he learned he heat heat with The Undertaker when he left Vince McMahon’s promotion to join World Championship Wrestling.
Here’s what Russo said:
“I found out through Terry Taylor that I had a little bit of heat with Taker. Terry said to me, ‘He told me he always asked him to work when he was hurt. You used to expect him to work when he was hurt’.
That really hurt me. I respected The Undertaker more than anyone else. I would never in my wildest dreams ask somebody to work a match if they were hurt.
With all due respect, Taker never told me he was hurt.”
