SmackDown Results – 2 Title Changes, Good News For Chelsea Green

Tonight’s WWE SmackDown took place at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. Below are the results:

– Nick Aldis wanted Chelsea Green to relinquish the WWE Women’s Title, but changed his mind and gave Chelsea 30 days to get cleared. Gunther came out and insulted Chelsea, which led to Matt Cardona attacking The Ring General.

– Gunther def. Matt Cardona via submission

After the match, Nia Jax and Lash Legend confronted Chelsea Green, and Nia said she has a history of breaking faces. Women’s United States Champion Tiffany Stratton ran out to back up Chelsea, but got laid out by The Irresistible Forces.

– Tatum Paxley showed Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss a locker filled with pictures of them.

– Nick Aldis made Cody Rhodes vs Randy Orton official for Sunday Night’s Main Event on September 6. Aldis then announced Cody Rhodes vs. Sami Zayn in a No.1 contender’s match for the Undisputed WWE Championship for tonight.

– United States Championship Match: Baron Corbin (c) def. Carmelo Hayes to retain the title

After the match, Lil Yachty and Trick Williams attacked Corbin.

– Kevin Owens and Undisputed WWE Champion CM Punk met in the ring before their title match next week. Owens said he has never liked Punk because Punk disrespected him 20 years ago in an indy promotion. Owens said all of his friends hate Punk. Punk said being hated by losers is the price he pays for not being one of them. Owens talked about his accomplishments and said he main evented WrestleMania with Stone Cold Steve Austin, something Punk will never do. Punk said if he was in WWE at that time, then he would’ve been chosen for that spot, not Owens. Owens said Punk is a phony and only made things right in WWE because he had no choice, because Punk screwed things up everywhere he went. Owens said he has waited so long to punch Punk in the face and he’s going to wait one for week to beat Punk’s b*tch a$$ for the WWE Title. Punk said he’s going to beat Owens’ fata$$.

– Finn Balor and Gunther had a heated exchange backstage.

– Triple Threat Match For The WWE Tag Team Championship: The MFTs (Tama Tonga & Talla Tonga) (with Haku) def. R-Truth & Damian Priest (c) and AAA Tag Team Champions The War Raiders to win the titles

– Women’s United States Championship Match: Jacy Jayne def. Tiffany Stratton (c) to win the title

– Cody Rhodes vs. Sami Zayn in a No.1 Contender’s Match never started because Randy Orton attacked Cody. SmackDown ended with WWE officials pulling Cody away from Randy.
