SmackDown Results – Big Return, 3 New Matches Set For SummerSlam 2026

Tonight’s WWE SmackDown took place at Oakland Arena in Oakland, California. Below are the results:

– Nick Aldis and Gunther signed the contract for their SummerSlam match. To compete in a match, Aldis had to relinquish his duties as SmackDown General Manager. RAW GM Adam Pearce will take up Nick’s duties. Gunther said he’s going to add Aldis to the list of names he retired. Aldis said he hasn’t competed in 3 years and has nothing to lose. Aldis then said:

“When I beat you at SummerSlam, you go from the Career Killer to the man that got made a b*tch by his boss.”

A brawl broke out, which ended with, Gunther powerbombing Aldis through a table.

– In a backstage segment, Adam Pearce informed Sami Zayn that Sami will compete in a No.1 Contender’s match for the Undisputed WWE Championship at SummerSlam 2026. Finn Balor vs. Damian Priest vs. Royce Keys vs. Trick Williams will take place tonight. The winner of this match will face Zayn at SummerSlam.

– Jacy Jayne said she’s coming for Tiffany Stratton’s Women’s United States Championship.

– Brie Bella def. WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Lainey Reid

After the match, Fatal Influence attacked Brie and Paige, which led to WWE Hall of Famer Nikki Bella making her return to save Brie and Paige. After laying out the heels, Nikki announced The Bella Twins and Paige vs. Fatal Influence for SummerSlam 2026.

– Gunther told Finn Balor that he doesn’t care about the No.1 Contender’s match at SummerSlam, because he’s next in line no matter what.

– Blake Monroe put Tiffany Stratton on notice, as she wants the Women’s United States Championship.

– Interim WWE Women’s Championship Qualifying Match: Chelsea Green def. Kiana James

– Cody Rhodes met Damian Priest backstage and discussed tonight’s Fatal 4-Way match. The winner of this match will face Sami Zayn in a No. 1 Contender’s match for the Undisputed WWE Championship at SummerSlam. Cody said if Priest becomes the No.1 Contender, then Priest have to face him at SummerSlam because he’s going to win the WWE Championship back. Priest said he knew Cody would say that, and then went on to say the following:

“The boys, we’re sick of the same people being the face of this brand.”

– Cody Rhodes and Undisputed WWE Champion CM Punk met in the ring. Cody said he doesn’t like Punk and vowed to become a 4-time Undisputed WWE Champion at SummerSlam. Punk said: “I’m the Best in this World – in this ring, on this microphone. Nobody can touch me, not even Dusty’s kid.”

– Interim WWE Women’s Championship Qualifying Match: Charlotte Flair def. Nia Jax via DQ after Jade Cargill attacked Flair

– Fatal 4-Way Match To Determine Sami Zayn’s SummerSlam Opponent: Finn Balor def. WWE Tag Team Champion Damian Priest, Royce Keys, and United States Champion Trick Williams

Sami Zayn vs. Finn Balor in a No.1 Contender’s Match for the Undisputed WWE Championship is set for SummerSlam. During the match, Solo Sikoa came out to help Royce, but got attacked by The Usos, which led to LA Knight making the save. In the end, Jacob Fatu prevented Keys from winning the match by attacking him.

– After tonight’s SmackDown went off the air, Baron Corbin attacked United States Champion Trick Williams. Trick then challenged Corbin to a match at SummerSlam 2026. Corbin accepted the challenge and said he’s taking the U.S. Title.
