SmackDown Results – New Champions Crowned, Update On Who Attacked Jacob Fatu Angle, New #1 Contenders

– Tonight’s SmackDown kicked off with Sami Zayn addressing the WWE Universe. Sami said tomorrow night at Saturday Night’s Main Event, he has the chance to defeat Randy Orton, Trick Williams, and Damian Priest and go on to to face Drew McIntyre for the Undisputed WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble and win his first World Title in WWE. Trick interrupted and said the last time Sami had a chance at the title was in Montreal and he couldn’t finish the job. Sami said in a few years, if Trick is lucky, he can almost be as good as him, and dared him to do something. Priest came out and said it will be him vs. Trick in the main event. Trick attacked Sami with his mic and a brawl broke out. Randy Orton was watching this on a TV backstage and told Cathy Kelley the following:

“2026 is the year of The Viper. I have every intention of taking World Championship gold for the 15th time.”

– Carmelo Hayes offered Ilja Dragunov a United States Championship rematch and Ilja accepted. The Miz told Carmelo that a title isn’t made prestigious by handing out title shots.

– United States Championship Match: Carmelo Hayes (c) def. Ilja Dragunov to retain the title after Miz attacked Ilja

– Jacob Fatu interrupted Cody Rhodes’ sit-down interview with Michael Cole. Fatu said he didn’t want to do anything with Cody and he only attacked Drew McIntyre because Drew knocked his teeth down his throat. Cody took a shot at Jacob being sent to prison in the past:

“You acting and not thinking got you locked up in prison.”

Jacob said he’s not like other Samoans Cody has faced and that they don’t make them like him anymore.

– WWE Women’s Champion Jade Cargill def. AAA Mixed Tag Team Champion Chelsea Green

– WWE aired a promo where it was revealed that Roman Reigns has declared his entry into the Men’s Royal Rumble 2026 match in Saudi Arabia on January 31.

After the match, Jordynne Grace declared her entry into the Women’s Royal Rumble match and vowed to challenge Jade after she wins it.

– WWE Tag Team Championship Match: My Family Tree (Solo Sikoa and Tama Tonga) def. Wyatt Sicks (Dexter Lumis and Joe Gacy) (c) to win the titles

Before the match, Solo Sikoa announced his entry into the Men’s Royal Rumble match.

– AJ Styles met Shinsuke Nakamura in Nick Aldis’ office and Styles vs. Nakamura was made official for tomorrow’s Saturday Night’s Main Event.

– Nathan Frazer def. Johnny Gargano

After the match, Axiom took back his mask from Gargano, but Candice LeRae stole it back and ran away.

– Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss declared their entry into the Women’s Royal Rumble match.

– Undisputed WWE Champion Drew McIntyre said he did not attack Jacob Fatu last year. If he did, he would’ve bragged about it. Drew then took shots at Randy Orton, Trick Williams, Damian Priest, and Sami Zayn. Drew said Sami’s son is going to be disappointed again, but it’s okay because Sami’s son has been disappointed for a long time. Drew said Sami’s son was born disappointed because the moment he opened his eyes, he realized his father was Sami Zayn.

– Kit Wilson said he attacked Matt Cardona last week because Cardona is toxic, and men like Cardona expect the world to bend around them. Cardona said they can settle this in the ring.

– Triple Threat #1 Contenders Match For The WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship: Giulia & Kiana James def. Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss and Nia Jax & Lash Legend

Kiana pinned Alexa.

In a backstage interview, Giulia announced her entry into the Women’s Royal Rumble and revealed her plan to become a triple champion. She’s already the Women’s United States Champion. After becoming the #1 contender, she plans to become the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion. After winning the Royal Rumble, she plans to become the WWE Women’s Champion.

– Cody Rhodes wishes AJ Styles good luck ahead of career threatening match against Gunther at the Royal Rumble.

– Damian Priest told Sami Zayn to not interfere in his match tonight. Sami saw Drew McIntyre backstage and slapped him.

– Trick Williams def. Damian Priest via DQ after Sami Zayn interfered and attacked Trick

Sami and Damian brawled. Trick took out Damian. Randy Orton showed up and RKOed Trick and Sami to end the show.
